A painter’s work is never done. After much consideration, I decided, along with Merry’s owner, that this painting really needed to have more pink. Merry really loves pink and the painting simply would not be complete without it! So, I went back to the easel and added a glaze of pink over areas to make it much warmer in appearance. I am very happy that I did. The result is a more vibrant painting. See the work in progress…

This work in progress portrait is of Merry, the top dog on Pampered Puppy, a website that specializes in luxury lifestyles for dogs. The colors in this painting are really coming together. The mood of Merry is so real and alive, I almost feel like she is right in the room. I am very happy with this painting. As with all of my paintings, it is just so much better in person. Regardless, I think this image above does a fine job in portraying the endearing, lovable personality of Merry. I just want to squeeze her cheeks!!!!!!!!

This portrait is developing very nicely! Still undecided on the background colors, I need to wait until the painting develops more before I can commit to the right colors to really make Merry stand out. I really love the soft, subtle tones in her fur, as well as the close compostion. This painting will look great when complete.
